Childhood:
Shania Twain was born on 28th August, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario. Her parents Sharon and Jerry Twain were a forester by trade. Initially there families were in deep financial crisis. Despite all the hurdles the Twain home was always full of music. As a childhood she gets full support of the family in sharpening the writing and singing skills.
With her parents' support Shania sang on local radio and television stations. She financially helped her parents by taking part-time jobs during her summer vacations.
After finishing her high school she has shifted to Toronto to pursue her singing career. But in the meantime her parents died in a car accident which forced her to return from Toronto. She started working in a resort in Deerhurst, as singer and dancer. Shania earned lots of money by that profession and settled her surrogate family.
Career:
She released her demo tape of her songs and set up a showcase concert in Canada. This concert helps Shania to sign Mercury Records Company and she became one of the main artists of that company. She released her debut album in 1993, Shania Twain. It was not a major hit but some of the songs of her album did pretty well in US. To add more charm to her career she was selected as “The Rising Video Star of the year” by European Country Music Television. Her next album was also released in the same year titled “The Woman In Me” and this time it was a great success. It sold somewhere around 18 million copies. It produced seven hit singles. Then what, the road was wide open for her and she keeps the wheels of success rolling. She released another album in the year 1997, titled Come On Over. She spent two years in touring for the promotion of the album. It has sold around 36 million copies by the end of 1999.
Due to her success, Shania appeared on VH1's Divas Live as one of the divas, together with other great names such as Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Gloria Estefan. The album of the live performance was released in 1998.
"I don't have any anxiety about the success of this record. My goal isn't to outsell Come on Over. I just really want to know what people think of it. I'm excited to get the feedback." Shania Twain
Personality:
Shania Twain faced many challenges in life be it her family problem, poverty or even her professional career. Among all these hurdles and difficulties she remains very cool and determined to achieve her goal. She's an all-around accomplished woman who comes across as sweet and tender on the one hand, and strong and somewhat feisty on the other. Song titles like "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)" and "That Don't Impress Me Much" assert her attitude regarding the male/female relationship thing, while revealing her humorous side.
She has been performing for audiences since she was a kid, so those early years of experience have certainly paid off. She's a good singer and she writes or at least co-writes her own songs. And oh yeah, her dance moves aren’t bad for a country girl.
