In her first big break, In Interview With The Vampire, she played an adult trapped in a child's body. The role was done so wonderfully that she was nominated for a Golden Globe. Even her costars Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt say that she was the best actor on the set, considering her age. So, it was very well agreed by all that this child was a star in the making.

Born and brought up in New Jersey, Kirsten Dunst made her debut by modeling for her mother’s gallery. By 4, she was signed up to Elite and the Ford Agency. She made her TV debut in an ad for dolls, where she appeared for more than 70 advertisements.

In 1994, she made name for herself with her next venture, Little Women. Here, in adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic about a family facing the civil war, Kirsten played the part of little Amy, the youngest daughter of the March family. She did the role brilliantly and because of her amazing performance, she was offered the central role in the horror flick Jumanji. After that she did the spooky Tower Of Terror, where she played Steve Guttenberg's niece, a young detective searching for missing links. Afterwards, she dubbed the voice of Young Anastasia in Fox's cartoon.

Then she did Wag The Dog and True Heart where she plays one of the two kids lost in a jungle saved by a bear.  Fifteen And Pregnant saw her for the first time as a teenage who accidentally gets involved into sex and gets pregnant In The Virgin Suicides she played Lux Lisbon, one of five blonde sisters cursed with a strict religious mother. Lux breaks the vow by having sex with her boyfriend which makes their world topsy turvy. In Get Over It, Kirsten plays the love interest of Ben Foster. At the same time, she went around with Ben for some six months.

Kirsten went on to grab the title of  the queen of the teen comedy. Kirsten played Amber Atkins in Drop Dead Gorgeous in which teen beauty pageants is satirised. After Drop Dead Gorgeous came Bring It On , again an addition to Kirsten’s already fat resume. Then she did her next grown up role with Crazy/Beautiful where she had a real sex scene and the bold actress performed it with so much conviction that even her father was shocked.

Kirsten Dunst is working on her own production company with her mother called "Wooden Spoon Productions". The name symbolizes women and creativity. It was inspired by her grandmother, who used wooden spoons to keep her in line when she was a girl.

Kirsten nabbed the lead role of Peter Parker's girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson, in Spider-Man (2002). The role was first of all offered to Kate Hudson and Alicia Witt but they refused to appear in any science fiction flick. When asked upon to do that role, Kirsten realized it could be just the break she was looking for and said yes. When she was interviewed she said “I really wanted the role because I knew it would give my career a boost, especially in foreign markets where I don't feel I'm that well known". The movie as we all know went on to become a blockbuster and made Mary Jane Watson a household name.

As an individual, loves to do a lot of things ranging from playing the piano to listening to music, especially Jewel to playing softball.  Kirsten lives with her mother, brother Christian in Burbank, California. Her extended family also includes her two cats, and the family dog Beauty.
