Amanda Peet was born on January 11, 1972 in the Big Apple - New York City, USA. Her parents were;Charles, a lawyer and Penny, a social worker in New York City. But within little span of time her parent were separated. Thought she attended Columbia University, right in the heart of New York, her attraction towards the showbiz was noticed when at the age of three she jumped onstage during a play. And her desired to be an actress was fulfilled at her teen age itself. Her debut to the show biz was unconventional. Despite the auspicious beginning, Peet treated action as more of a hobby than anything else. The actress studied with Hagen for four years, during that time she participated in the off-Broadway revival awake and Sing. Amanda worked as a waitress during the first few years of her acting career. She was voted one of the year’s 50 most beautiful people in a 2000 issue of People magazine.
Her tryst for success finally materialized. In 1995 she was cast in a guest-starring role on the hit series "Law & Order" (1990). Her feature film debut came in 1995 in the movie Animal Room (1995). For a while after, Amanda continued to find steady work, but also found herself appearing in a depressingly large number of films that were never picked up.
