“People have a preconceived notion about who I am and it's interesting. It's like picking who you want to win for the Oscars and not seeing the movie” says the young star.
Yes, she may be young but what she says may not be immature. In fact, Amanda Bynes comes across as a smart, talented, confident and mature actor.
What she says is quite correct, so lets not give her credit for anything that she is not- good or bad. Then, let us evaluate her as an actor and see if she is worth our appreciation or otherwise.
She was born 19 years back in California to a middle class family. Her father is perhaps the biggest influence in her life. By profession, he is a dentist and by extension one would think a man who makes people cry by pulling their tooth. But that’s not how it is. Dr. Rick Bynes is a die hard comedy enthusiast. It’s all due to him that Amanda developed her love for comedies. As a young child, she would act in the school skits and other community programmes.
Her style of acting is unique. She does not says no to physical comical gestures. Bynes has risen to the top of the Nickelodeon series and remained on "All That" for four seasons. At 12 years, Bynes proved that she is indeed among the best of the bunch by hosting her own variety sketch show, "The Amanda Show," for which she received Favorite Television Actress honor three years in a row from Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards.
In 2001, she starred in "Big Fat Liar" as Kaylee, Jason's friend who supports him and makes people beleive that the essay "Big Fat Liar" was written by Jason only. In 2002, she starred with Jennie Garth in "What I Like About You" . The next year she won two KCA Awards and starred as Daphne, where she plays the character of a girl who is on the look out for her father in "What a Girl Wants". In this movie Colin Firth and Kelly Preston play as her parents. She continued acting in "What I Like About You". On her eighteenth birthday she got the best birthday gift of her life as she was given Annual KCA award for best actress for her brilliant performance in "What a Girl Wants."
She did her graduation from Thousand Oaks High School in their independent study program in 2004 and soon after that she filmed "Lovewreck" in 2004. She has also starred in Robots (2005). Amanda loves shopping, drawing, watching movies and TV (Friends, Felicity,The Gilmore Girls), cooking, hanging with friends and chatting on the net apart from making her friends laugh by cracking jokes or making use of her talent.Shee has dated Taran Killam (actor, The Amanda Show, dated 2001-02.) and Nick Zano who was her co star in What I Like About You. At present she is single and ready to mingle.
Amanda Bynes has been in the lime light ever since she was a child. But she does not want to rush into things. That’s why she has done selective things till now, “I want to be looked at as an adult actress. That's why I didn't want to do a big movie when I was 11." says Amanda. Now that the young lady herself declares that her best is yet to come, do we need question it further? All this is proof enough that this girl has it all- from charm to wit to talent, to make it really big. She continues to excel; the art of making people laugh.
