Early in his life, he started a crusade of becoming an actor. What encouraged him is the thought that no body is a born performer, but they are made performers. His father, Harry Bloom was a legendary political activist who fought for civil rights in South Africa. He died when Orlando was just four. Orlando and his elder sister were taken care by their mother, Sonia and family friend, Colin. News that Orlando discovered from her mother was that Colin was actually his biological father.

His dynamic personality has exhibited his interest in local theater. Being idealist, he together with his sister started studying poetry and prose. As a clay trapper at a pigeon shooting range, he marked his first job. Then Orlando finally confirmed to pursue a career in sincere acting. He joined the National Youth Theatre, in London, in order to raise high in his life. He even enjoyed a scholarship with the British American Drama Academy. He started his career by giving auditions for various TV serials. A glimpse of his talent can be seen in British television shows "Casualty" (1986), "Midsomer Murders" (1997) and "Smack the Pony" (1999). The critically applauded movie Wilde (1997) was the first movie actually brought out his talent.

In “Lord of the Rings trilogy”, Bloom is taken by Peter Jackson for his classically handsome personality. That particular performance gave a flow to his acting career. Then he planned to work on Black Hawk with Ridley Scott. From then till now, he is working without a break aspiring to get more and more projects.

While having a peep in his personal life, he had been dating with Kate Bosworth since three years. The couple started dating in the spring of 2002 and they parted in January 2005. At present, this Hollywood hunk is single and is in seek of hot babe to occupy a soft corner in his heart. According to him, one is in love when he can’t stop thinking about when he is going to meet her again. To him women are worthy of being cherished and respected. And, he adds with a laugh, "They're a handful."

While the Pirates of the Caribbean paramours were heating up the big screen, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley remain friends off screen. If ever they would form a couple, it would be a perfect couple ever formed.

This 5' 11" tall hunk gives vent to his liking for Keira Knightley on the sets of the Pirates of the Caribbean, which is still in the process and will be released soon in 2006. The duo remained friends off screen. They would form a perfect couple if ever it could happen. "I think I had a crush on her while we were filming, actually," he says. "We got on really well, but I got on really well with her boyfriend, too."
