"I personally think you must believe in something. You must have a point of view on everything even if you have to change it often. That's my terrorist aspect in action! I need to have prejudices to make my choices, I mustn't let myself be invaded by ultra conservatism. Better be wrong in one's decision and then step backwards rather than not choosing at all." Said Oliver Martinez in an  interview.

He is a man of the world, he knows that it is important to have a point of view in every thing we do. Because,  a man who does not have any opinion in life does not know how to proceed. Once you have a point of view, only then will you be able to improve it.

Oliver had a major accident in his leg and after that he realized that he would not be abl;e to follow his dreams of being a matador. At that time, he was 23 but had the courage to learn a new art form. After finishing shool, he acted  in a Paris production of Eugene O'Neill's play Desire Under the Elms where his performance was noticed and he was offered to act in Jean-Jacques Beineix's adventure IP5 (1992). He also acted along with Marcello Mastroianni in Bertrand Blier's experimental Un, Deux, Trois Soleil (1993). For his wonderful performance in that film, he also bagged the César for Most Promising Actor.

Thereafter, he worked in The Horseman on the Roof (1995) and his acting style and facial expression was compared to Brad Pitt and he was called as  "French Brad Pitt." He came into news for the first time for his off screen romance with co-star Juliette Binoche. A European hit, The Horseman on the Roof also gave him good media coverage. After that, he got a minor role in a smaller role in Blier's black comedy Mon Homme (1996).

Bigas Luna's The Chambermaid on the Titanic (1997) gave him much name and fame. He also did The Slammer (1999), The City of Marvels (1999), and Toreros (2000). Before Night Falls (2000) was a good experience for him. Then he worked in Bullfighter (2001).

Martinez was a more desirable object of desire as compared to Richard Gere in the movie Unfaithful. He was the sexual obsession of the bored housewife Diane Lane, forcing her to commit adultery. Later he did the summer action movie S.W.A.T. (2003).

Once Oliver was asked if he liked acting in films. Martinez said  “I don't have a problem with not working. For me being an actor is a job. It's a pleasant job, but it's a job. If I could do nothing, I would do nothing." He is known to take things realistically without any pretensions or flowery language. He also said “The less you know about me as a man, the more I will be able to make you believe what I do on screen. That’s why I don't talk about my personal life. I want to stay mysterious.". He believes in showing just the character he is playing, he personal life, he keeps to himself.

He was all set to marry his long time girl friend Kylie Minogue after she was detected with breast cancer. Kylie had her surgical operation recently and has removed her lumps. The actress recently divulged that she has no plans to marry in near future.Oliver has a number of projects on his hand presently and his next movie is desperately awaited by his fans.
