Jim Carrey Jim Carrey Jim Carrey

All good things come in small packs. This is all what can be said to describe this famous Hollywood hunk. Being born as a comedian, his wholesome purpose in life is to make others laugh. But how long can one continue with this tag of being a comedian. Jim Carrey was born in 1962 in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. He exhibited his talent of being a comedian in his schooldays by performing before his classmates and making them laugh. After his performance in Yuk Yuk's, a comedy club, he continued performing at various clubs all over Canada. His first professional break came, when his talents came in the notice of comedian Rodney Dangerfield. Though his comedy club debut at age 16 was a total collapse but he didn't accepted this only failure as a lifetime failure. He continued his journey, the journey to discover one's own identity. In the process of finding an essence of his existence, he was ready to face the ups and downs of any sort. A sudden shift in his mind about landing his career in acting aroused when he got a role in series The Duck Factory. He was able to retain the attention of film audiences throughout the world because of his exclusive blend of uniqueness, parody and originality with an extreme style of physical comedy.

In films as Peggy Sue Got Married (1986) and Earth Girls are Easy (1990), Carrey can be seen in supporting roles. After working sweat and blood in 1980's and earning fame, he went on to label the year 1994, as "The Year of Carrey," with the release of three top-grossing comedy films to his credit: Pet Detective, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber. By the end of the year, he was in demand commanding seven to ten million dollars per picture. Another twist came in year 1995, when the actor/comedian took over for Robin Williams as The Riddler in the blockbuster film Batman Forever. In Milos Forman's Man on the Moon (1999), Carrey has performed a comedy of different sort. Then in the year 2000, he came up with the Farrelly brothers' Me, Myself & Irene, starring as a cop with a split personality, both of whom are in love with the same woman (Renée Zellweger). For his leading role in Ron Howard's Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas, he even received a Golden Globe nomination. Being in a habit of receiving appreciation as a skilled dramatist, he came to light in 2001 box-office bomb The Majestic.

He has contributed the most popular and pleasurable characters to the modern film industry. This can be seen clearly in his movies Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, based on the Dark Horse comic book series of the same name, Dumb and Dumber and Ace Ventura: With the 1996 release of The Cable Guy, Carrey's worldwide box office exceeded the $l billion mark. Giving vent to his multitalented personality, he exposes that other than an actor and comedian, he is a singer also. Along with his production crew of Me, Myself & Irene (2000) he has attended a private music show of the band Phish at the guitarist/vocalist house in Careystock, Vermont, on June 24th 1999. There, he sang two songs with Phish, "Hey You" by Bachman Turner Overdrive and "Come Together" by The Beatles.
