1992 was a major year for him in terms of success. In Encino Man, he performs the role of caveman Link and film was an unexpected hit. The same year brought another success, School Ties, whre he acts as a jew who does not have to disclose this fact among others. But as things go wrong if they can, this is discovered by the rival football team leading to a number of conflicts.
His other significant role was in a comedy called Airheads. Here he played Chazz, leader of hairy rock group who have some fun at the local radio station by making them play their favourite music at gunpoint! He did a number of more films which are not worth recalling now.
Philip Ridley's The Passion Of Darkly Noon, was his best till then, there he played the title role of an orphan. He meets Ashley Judd and gets attracted towars her but could not go further because of his restrictive religious beliefs. This conflicting situation makes him lose his balance and he goes insane.
George Of The Jungle was the movie which finally made him a known name. This is based on the Sixties cartoon series. Here he played a Tarzan like figure, only that he is not that smart, he keeps bumping into trees. He is taken into town by a socialite but finds it difficult to adjust to the ways of these people and returns back to his native land. This led to an instant rapport with kids who were very much impressed at watching a fallible Tarzan who is as vulnerable as them, not to say comical.1998 also saw Brendan in Still Breathing, where he played a puppeteer who loves a con artist and goes out to find her. For his excellent performance, he was honoured as the Best Actor at the Seattle International Film Festival. In the same year he married his long-time spark Afton Smith, a former actress, one year his senior, who'd appeared in the likes of Less Than Zero, Fried Green Tomatoes and Reality Bites. The couple met five years back at Winona Ryder's 4th of July barbecue. He proposed his love in no ordinary way. He'd pin a note saying "Will you marry me?" inside his jacket then, as he and Afton posed for timed Polaroid shots, and when the photo was about to click he would open his jacket to show that special note.
He did quite a few average hits before the chartbuster period movie, Stephen Sommers' The Mummy . As Rick O'Connell, he portrays a slightly dodgy adventurer and supports Rachel Weisz discover Hamunaptra, the city of the dead. Seeking both knowledge and treasure, they inadvertently awaken Imhotep, the cursed mummy who wants to kill the lady to resurrect his long-dead lover. This movie shattered the $100 million mark.In Harold Ramis's Bedazzled, Elizabeth Hurley played a voluptuous Satan, granting Brendan seven wishes he can use to win his love lady. After this came Monkeybone, where he plays a cartoonist trapped in his self created world.
The Mummy Returns returned with a huge investment. It,s setting takes place ten years later and Fraser is married to Weisz and has a young child. The mummy returns was a hit, though not as much as the original. He got $12.5 million for The Mummy Returns and decided to indulge in his passions for travel, culture and photography. By now Brendan Fraser was an established name in Hollywood. Brendan continues to work his magic in Hollywood with his latest projects.
