Childhood
Adam Sandler was born on the 9th September 1966 in Brooklyn, New York to Jewish parents, Judy and Stanley.
Sandler’s siblings include Brother Scott and older sisters Elizabeth and Valerie.
Adam grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire after parents Stan and Judy relocated there when Adam was 6 years old.
Sandler did not excel as a student. He loved wrestling and basketball and played on Manchester Central High School's junior varsity team.
At age 11, he got up to sing at Elizabeth's wedding, performing Ringo Starr's You're Sixteen to huge applause.
He attended Manchester Central High School in Manchester and the New York University, New York, New York, where he holds a BA in Fine Arts.
Adam Sandler had no intentions of becoming a comedian. This changed when his brother convinced him to compete in an amateur night in a Boston comedy club.
At 17, he took his first exhilarating step towards becoming a stand-up comedian when he spontaneously took the stage at a Boston comedy club. He found he was a natural born comedian.
Career
Adam started performing at a comedy club in Boston by spontaneously taking the stage. He was then discovered by comedian Dennis Miller, who caught Sandler's act in Los Angeles. Miller immediately recommended Sandler to Saturday Night Live producer, Lorne Michaels.
Pulling strings worked, and Adam Sandler quickly rose from SNL writer in 1990 to full-time performer a year later.
After "Saturday Night Live" (1975), Adam went on to the movies and received his first lead role in the movie Billy Madison (1995). His never-ending wit landed him big screen roles in succession.
Sandler starred in Happy Gilmore, The Wedding Singer, The Waterboy, and Big Daddy from 1996 to 1999. The last two movies earned over $160 million each -- Adam Sandler was now arguably the comedian box-office king, commanding over $20 million per film.
Sandler costarred with Winona Ryder in Mr. Deeds (2002) and with Emily Watson in Punch-Drunk Love (2002).
With Mr. Deeds and Punch-Drunk Love in the books, the writer and actor soon realized that there was more he could do. He started putting more work into Happy Madison, his production company, and created an animation company as well, called Meatball.
Sandler was once linked to actress Alicia Silverstone and engaged to cosmetic-company manager Margareth Ruden.
Sandler finally decided to settle down with model Jackie Titone. After a long relationship the couple finally married on June 22, 2003.
Sandler and Jackie Titone later worked together again in the Rob Schneider comedy Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, for which Sandler was executive-producer.
In 2003 Sandler co-starred with acting legend Jack Nicholson in the popular comedy Anger Management and then in 2004 was reunited with Drew Barrymore for the romantic comedy 50 First Dates. The movie was such a success that it earned a gross of $45.1 million in just four days.
